LeBron James, Miami Heat send a message

The Miami Heat have charged full blast into the playoffs and woe to anyone willing to stand in their path. The New York Knicks got to see firsthand as the Heat charged all over them in a 100-67 victory in their Game 1 matchup in Miami on Saturday.

LeBron James scored 32 points in only three quarters of play but the key to this monstrous win had to be Miami’s stifling defense. Miami limited Carmelo Anthony to just 11 points and three of fifteen shooting from the field.

Amar’e Stoudemire was even worse hitting only two of his seven shots on the night. He would finish the game with nine points and a seat on the bench with Anthony and the rest of the Knicks' starters in the waning moments of the game. Both Anthony and Stoudemire sat and pondered what went wrong so terribly wrong that they would lose by 33 points.

The answer is simple, LeBron James happened. No one believes that Miami will lose this series to the Knicks but James and the Heat wanted to let the rest of the league know what to expect for the rest of the playoffs.

The Heat are on a mission and James has taken it upon himself to make sure they don’t come up short this time the way they did last year. James speaking after the game said, “I've waited to get back to the postseason, prepared myself all season, throughout the offseason to get back to this point.”

The Miami Heat stormed their way to the NBA Finals last year and looked unbeatable as they took a 2-1 lead in the series. Then they collapsed as the Dallas Mavericks would edge them in Game 4 and go on to crush them in the final two games.

So James’s play against the Knicks and his postgame comments were meant as a message to anyone that has the misfortune to face the Miami Heat during the 2012 NBA Playoffs. The Heat won’t be denied this year and that is the word according to James.
