The San Antonio Spurs can’t lose

The San Antonio Spurs are currently in the midst of a 20-game win streak that covers the last ten games of the regular season and their first ten games of the playoffs. A staggering 75 percent of those wins were by 10 or more points.

Needless to say the Spurs are a much different team than they were last season.

Although they were the number one seed going into the 2010-2011 playoffs, they ended the regular season going only 4-8 in their last 12 regular season games before being unceremoniously ousted in six games during their first round matchup with the eighth-seeded Memphis Grizzlies.

This year the Spurs made a more concerted effort to be in rhythm going into the postseason in hopes that it would carry over into the playoffs.

And boy have they. The Spurs seemed untouchable as they completely obliterated the Utah Jazz in the first round then crushed the Los Angeles Clippers in like fashion during the Conference Semifinals.

Now they have a commanding 2-0 lead versus the Oklahoma City Thunder. Although the Spurs won both games by less than the 10-point margin they are accustomed to winning by, those numbers are a little misleading.

The Thunder have hit desperation three-pointers after the Spurs let up on defense during the closing minutes of both games. The Spurs have been just as dominant against the Thunder as they have against any team they have faced during their win streak.

And don’t look for things to change much in that regard. The law of averages and the Thunder’s pride will probably see to it that the Spurs win streak ends before they reach the NBA Finals but there is no mistaking that they will win this series and probably the next one too.

No disrespect to LeBron James and the Miami Heat but with the way this team has been playing lately, it’s almost a foregone conclusion: the Spurs can’t lose.

  1. I'm really looking forward to a Spurs/Heat matchup. That will be one hell of a series. I agree though, the Spurs will be too much for the Heat to handle.

  2. Honestly, the Thunder/Spurs series is the true finals. I think if the Thunder won they would beat the heat in 5. I can almost guarantee that the Spurs will sweep the Heat.

If the Spurs can hold on and take the next two games in OKC, I would bet that they become the first team in history to sweep the playoffs (provided that one of the Big 3 doesn't get injured.)

  3. man i love that alot of people are on board with the Spurs. Even fans of the lakers, clippers, even and Dallas if you can believe that are all hoping the Spurs take it. It brings goosebumps to my arms to think of it becuase they are always referred to as old and boring, but really they play with skill and precision. Just beatiful playing.

    1. The Spurs look like world beaters. There isn't anyone that is playing as well as they are right now. Besides, there are still a lot of LeBron-haters out there who don't want to see him get a ring lol.
