Miami Heat facing major overhaul this offseason

Whether they win or lose the NBA Finals, the Miami Heat will probably be adding a lot of new faces to their 2014-3015 roster.

Of course the biggest question facing the Heat is will LeBron James stay or leave for a chance to win more titles with another talented team that is not only on the of cusp of a championship but one that also has the money to pay him a huge contract?

Is Dwyane Wade still a top ten player?

Thunder forward Kevin Durant was quoted in an interview saying that Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade should be replaced in Sport’s Illustrated’s top ten list of NBA players.

While Durant’s comments sparked a little back and forth between he and Wade on Twitter, Durant raised a viable question. Is Wade still a top ten player?

Spurs’ Game Plan to Win Finals: Crowd LeBron

San Antonio Spurs’ head coach Gregg Popovich isn’t the longest tenured coach in the league by accident.

Sure it helps having Tim Duncan roaming the paint for the past 16 years but Popovich is probably the best at attacking an opposing team’s weakness.

Key injuries shape Eastern Conference playoff race

The Miami Heat have claimed the number one spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs by amassing an insurmountable lead going into the final stretch of the regular season. The Heat have played well this season but would they still be in the same position had it not been for a couple of key injuries suffered by some of their conference foes?

The Chicago Bulls led by Derrick Rose have held the Eastern Conference’s best record for the past two seasons but Rose hasn’t played a single game this season. Without Rose, the Bulls are currently sitting in fifth place in the conference standings.

LeBron to Chuck: “Shut up!”

We all know that NBA players have thin skin and LeBron James proved it with his comment after the Miami Heat beat the Atlanta Hawks on Monday.

When asked about his teammate Dwyane Wade’s 11-of-13 shooting performance after the game, James replied that Wade’s performance meant that TNT analyst Charles Barkley should “shut up.”

Miami Heat’s Chris Bosh should continue to come off the bench

Chris Bosh played a major role in the Miami Heat's Game 7 victory over the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals. After scoring a total of 16 points in Games 5 and 6 combined, Bosh torched the Celtics with 19 points hitting eight of his 10 shots from the field in that decisive Game 7.

The Heat are going to need more performances like that from Bosh if they want to win four games against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA Finals. And they are going to need to continue to bring him off the bench.

Dream matchup: Heat's LeBron James versus Thunder's Kevin Durant

The NBA couldn't have asked for a better scenario than to have the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Miami Heat meet up in the NBA Finals. Kevin Durant versus LeBron James and OKC's big three versus Miami's big three are the matchups that everyone will be dying to watch.

And there's no denying that how Durant and James play each other will be a big factor in deciding the outcome of this series as well as how Russell Westbrook matches up against Dwyane Wade and which player out of Chris Bosh and James Harden has a bigger impact off the bench. But while those matchups will be important, the outcome of this series could hinge even more on how the role players perform.

Pacers’ Danny Granger awoke Miami’s sleeping giant: LeBron James

It’s not like Miami Heat forward LeBron James wasn’t putting up solid statistics against the Indiana Pacers in this series. James averaged 25 points and eight boards in Games 2 and 3 but the Pacers were still able to defeat the Heat who seemed out of rhythm offensively.

Most of Miami’s offensive problems could be traced back to losing forward Chris Bosh to a strained abdomen in Game 1 but Pacers’ forward Danny Granger must have felt that his team’s Game 1 loss was due to them not coming out with enough attitude in that first game.

3 reasons why the Miami Heat won’t win a title under Spoelstra

Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra may be a top-ten coach in the NBA but that says a lot more about the lousy coaches in the league today than it does about his overall coaching skills.

By my count there are at least nine coaches in the league better than Spoelstra and one of them, Orlando Magic head coach and former Heat coach Stan Van Gundy, will receive his walking papers any day now.

Miami Heat’s road woes spell trouble for title hopes

Pat Riley is a pretty good judge of talent and he’s a very patient person. He has been trying his best to let head coach Erik Spoelstra do things his way but if things don’t change soon then the Miami Heat will end the season the same way they ended the last one; watching another team raise its championship banners.

It’s a Cole World

It didn’t take long for rookie Norris Cole to make his presence felt in the league. It is surprising to see him do it on a championship-caliber team like the Miami Heat though. In only his second regular season game Cole was key to the Heat beating the Boston Celtics by scoring 14 points in the fourth quarter of Miami’s 115-107 win.

The Miami Heat 2011-2012 Season Preview

Unfinished business. Although not verbally expressed in those specific terms, that is the sentiment that permeates throughout the entire Miami Heat organization. The Heat lived up to their promise to compete for a championship last year making it all the way to the NBA Finals but failed to bring home the hardware. This year they vow to change that.
