Clippers represent a different brand of ‘super team’

The creation of the “super team,” where big stars team up together in order to chase championship rings has been a reoccurring theme in the NBA lately.

The Miami Heat did it two seasons ago and have reached the NBA Finals both seasons since Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and Chris Bosh came together.

Clippers’ Blake Griffin is the six million dollar man

Los Angeles Clippers’ forward Blake Griffin is a highlight reel wrapped in a conundrum. Griffin led the league in dunks this season but his production wasn’t nearly as spectacular as some of his above-the-rim acrobatics.

His second-year numbers were actually worse than the numbers he posted his rookie season. It seems weird that his numbers would decline when you consider he didn’t have a point guard as good as Chris Paul to get him the ball during his rookie year.

Clippers’ bench will have to come up big against Spurs

It had to be a heart-warming sight for Los Angeles Clippers’ coach Vinny Del Negro to see his bench carry the Clippers in their Game 7 road win versus the Memphis Grizzlies. Watching the Clippers over the course of the season they have had issues with their depth and things only got worse when they lost Chauncey Billups to a torn Achilles injury earlier in the season.

But the Clippers were able to address their depth issues by signing Kenyon Martin and trading for Nick Young from the Washington Wizards. They are also getting more meaningful minutes from Mo Williams, Eric Bledsoe and Reggie Evans.

Lamar Odom will play for Los Angeles next season

Although Lamar Odom was dismissed from playing for the Dallas Mavericks on April 7^th of this year, he still has one year left on his contract. And if Odom is still on the Mavericks' roster, or any roster for that matter, on June 29 then that team will be responsible for the full $8.2 million that he is due to make next season.

Odom can be bought out for only $2.4 million though if it is done before that date. The Mavericks will be looking for a suitor for Odom but more than likely they will end up buying him out rather than being forced to pay his full salary.

Battle Los Angeles: Clippers, Lakers fight to avoid Grizzlies in 1st round

It’s a tough job but somebody has to do it. Right now the Los Angeles Clippers are currently sitting in fourth place in the West and are looking at a showdown with the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round.

The Clippers are only a half game behind the Los Angeles Lakers but they have essentially run out of time. The Lakers only have one game left on their schedule and it is against the lowly Sacramento Kings. The Clippers have two tougher games left on their schedule since they have to play the Atlanta Hawks and the New York Knicks on the road.

Will Griffin, Clippers get pushed around in the playoffs?

The Los Angeles Clippers have been on a tear lately winning 13 of their last 16 games but as the playoffs approach, teams feel they may have found a chink in the Clippers’ armor. On Thursday night, the Phoenix Suns were able to limit Clippers’ star forward Blake Griffin with hard fouls.

Griffin got off to a hot start as he poured in 14 points in the first quarter. Then the Suns decided it was time to change tactics as they beat and hacked Griffin throughout the rest of the game. 

Clippers have style, no substance

The Los Angeles Clippers have been in a funk lately. A funk that has been in effect for the entire month of March as the team has gone 6-9 and dropped down to sixth place in the Western Conference.

Chauncey Billups is done with the Clippers

The Los Angeles Clippers are the seventh team Chauncey Billups has played with in his career (he played two separate stints in Denver) and may possibly be the last team he will ever play with after suffering a season-ending injury against the Orlando Magic on Monday night. He is done for the season with a torn Achilles but with the severity of the injury and his advanced age, he also may have played his very last game in the NBA.

Nuggets, Hawks are not Championship Contenders

The Denver Nuggets and Atlanta Hawks will make the playoffs this season but neither team will make it to the NBA Finals. Sorry Nuggets and Hawks fans. Although both of these teams have deep rosters filled with talented players, neither team possesses a true superstar that can carry them through a deep playoff run.

Hornets on Verge of Another Trade

The New Orleans Hornets announced that they are seeking a trade partner for center Chris Kaman who they acquired in a trade with the Clippers during the offseason. The Hornets seek to get younger as they continue the rebuilding process that was ushered in when they traded Chris Paul during that same offseason trade.

Should the Clippers trade Griffin for Howard?

Over the past week, the Orlando Magic's Dwight Howard has added the Los Angeles Clippers to the list of teams he would like to be traded to. There’s not a scarier thought for teams around the league than the idea of Howard joining Chris Paul in Lob City but should the Clippers trade Blake Griffin to get him?

Seeing the Oklahoma City Thunder sitting atop the West is not much of a surprise. The Thunder are a young and talented team that made it all the way to the Western Conference Finals last season. What is surprising is the teams that are currently sitting in the next few spots in the Western Conference standings.

The Chris Paul Controversy Isn’t Going Away Any Time Soon

The ink hasn’t even dried on the NBA’s new labor agreement and we already have our first controversy of the season. Thursday the Los Angeles Lakers, New Orleans Hornets and Houston Rockets announced a three-way trade that would have sent Chris Paul to L.A. and Pau Gasol to Houston. The Hornets would have received Lamar Odom, Kevin Martin, Luis Scola, Goran Dragic and a 2012 first-round draft pick in the deal but the NBA canceled the trade hours after it was announced yesterday.
