Canada on his mind: McGrady regrets leaving Raptors

After a futile career filled with first round exits on teams where he lacked the help to get him over the hump, Tracy McGrady thinks back to the one team he played on that could have potentially contended for a championship: the Toronto Raptors.

“In hindsight … I wish I had stayed in Toronto,” McGrady said while being interviewed by the Toronto Star. “There’s no doubt we could have contended for a championship. I think about that often.”

Point guard Jeremy Lin became an international sensation starting at point guard for the New York Knicks last season. Although Lin is now a member of the Houston Rockets, he may find himself wearing another team’s jersey by mid-season.

With the huge Asian population in Houston and the fact that the NBA has historically opened up All-Star voting to Asian countries like China, Lin could find himself starting at point guard for the Western Conference All-Star team.

The Chris Paul Controversy Isn’t Going Away Any Time Soon

The ink hasn’t even dried on the NBA’s new labor agreement and we already have our first controversy of the season. Thursday the Los Angeles Lakers, New Orleans Hornets and Houston Rockets announced a three-way trade that would have sent Chris Paul to L.A. and Pau Gasol to Houston. The Hornets would have received Lamar Odom, Kevin Martin, Luis Scola, Goran Dragic and a 2012 first-round draft pick in the deal but the NBA canceled the trade hours after it was announced yesterday.
