Jason Kidd’s basketball odyssey continues

Regrettably, we no longer get to see the nightly highlights of the mind-boggling passes that Jason Kidd used to make on the regular. The guy who would make his opponents look stupid with his superior court vision, exceptional ball-handling displays and passes that seem to reach his teammates from unbelievable angles has all but retired.

Instead we are exposed to a different Kidd these days. Now in his 19th season in the league, Kidd is no longer a regular on the sports highlight shows but if you watch him during a game you will see why he is still an amazing player.

Lakers’ D’Antoni either unable or unwilling to adapt

New York Knicks head coach Mike Woodson has been very successful since taking over the team after former coach Mike D’Antoni’s resignation last season. While D’Antoni has moved on to what most would consider a more talented team, D’Antoni hasn’t been nearly as successful as his New York successor.

It almost makes you wonder why D’Antoni was touted as such a big coaching hire to begin with. He didn’t get it done in New York and despite all the talent at his disposal with the Los Angeles Lakers, he hasn’t been able to get it done there either.

Homebound: Mavericks reload with Deron Williams, Chris Bosh this summer?

The Dallas Mavericks will have a lot of money to throw at free agents this summer, too bad there won’t be much to choose from. They may still be able to acquire some decent talent though with two players looking to reunite with their Dallas roots.

Deron Williams hasn’t been shy about his affinity for his home state of Texas. Williams was a star athlete at The Colony High School which is in the Dallas area and would be a major upgrade over the aging Jason Kidd.

Rajon Rondo replacing Kidd as the new triple-double king?

Over the course of his career Jason Kidd has been a stat machine. His 107 triple-doubles ranks him third all-time behind Oscar Robertson and Magic Johnson which puts him in some pretty lofty company to say the least. But with Jason Kidd now at the very tail end of his career, Boston Celtics’ point guard Rajon Rondo may be starting to cement himself as the league’s new triple-double king.

The Ricky Rubio Effect

Bienvenido al programa de Ricky Rubio. Get used to hearing that phrase people. Well…that is of course assuming you’re tuned into a Spanish-speaking station. Rubio’s teammates may end up hearing the phrase a lot though with the Spanish media drooling all over Rubio and his highlight-worthy passing game.

Fall from Grace for Lakers, Mavs?

Two championship caliber teams have started the season 0-2. While it’s too early to pronounce impending doom for the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks, there may be a lesson to be learned from their combined 0-4 start.
