Is It Time to ‘Irsay’ the Magic?

With Dwight Howard’s impending departure and the Orlando Magic’s poor play as of late, should Magic owner Rich DeVos take the nuclear option and blow up his team the way Jim Irsay has done the Indianapolis Colts?

Hornets on Verge of Another Trade

The New Orleans Hornets announced that they are seeking a trade partner for center Chris Kaman who they acquired in a trade with the Clippers during the offseason. The Hornets seek to get younger as they continue the rebuilding process that was ushered in when they traded Chris Paul during that same offseason trade.

Should the Clippers trade Griffin for Howard?

Over the past week, the Orlando Magic's Dwight Howard has added the Los Angeles Clippers to the list of teams he would like to be traded to. There’s not a scarier thought for teams around the league than the idea of Howard joining Chris Paul in Lob City but should the Clippers trade Blake Griffin to get him?

No Horford, No Problem for Hawks

Losing an All-Star center usually spells doom for a team that considers itself a championship contender but the Atlanta Hawks have gone 5-1 since losing center Al Horford to a torn pectoral muscle injury over a week ago. While this is a promising start there are still a lot of games left to play this season.

Danny Ainge: The Perfect Example of a Bad GM

You don’t trade away a Larry Bird. I’m sorry but that’s just ludicrous. You don’t trade Larry Legend under any circumstances just like you would never trade a Michael Jordan, a Tim Duncan or a Magic Johnson.

No Leadership in Washington

In the city where our leaders congregate to handle matters of national importance, it’s funny to note the lack of leadership coming from the team that calls Washington, DC its home. From the starters to the last man off the bench to the Washington Wizards’ coaching staff, no one on this team seems to know which direction this team is headed or needs to go for that matter.

Kobe Goes H.A.M.

Really Kobe? Really? I mean what does Kobe Bryant have to prove at this point in his career?

I don’t know what point Kobe is trying to make but he has now scored over 40 points in three straight games this week.

You Can Kyle Him the Man

Sure Kevin Martin leads the Houston Rockets in scoring at 16.6 points-per-game. Luis Scola is second and Kyle Lowry is the third leading scorer at 14 points per but if you’ve watched any Rockets’ games this season you would know that Lowry is the man in Houston.

Ray Allen’s Still Got Game

One of the prettiest things in all of sports is the jump shot and none is prettier than the jumper shooting guard Ray Allen of the Boston Celtics possesses. His form is perfect and fluid. Allen seems to shoot the ball so effortlessly and accurately, it’s no wonder he has been in the league as long as he has.

DeMarcus Cousins is a ‘Throwback’ Player

When people hear the word throwback they immediately get an image of some legendary player back in the days when an athlete’s heroic feats were captured either in black-and-white footage or that grainy technicolor stuff. Well there is no need to harken that far back. No need to waste your time envisioning the exploits of Bob Cousy, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, or even Michael Jordan and Larry Bird, at least not for the purposes of this story.

The Ricky Rubio Effect

Bienvenido al programa de Ricky Rubio. Get used to hearing that phrase people. Well…that is of course assuming you’re tuned into a Spanish-speaking station. Rubio’s teammates may end up hearing the phrase a lot though with the Spanish media drooling all over Rubio and his highlight-worthy passing game.

Can Andrew Bynum Carry the Lakers?

Los Angeles Lakers’ coach Mike Brown understands basketball fundamentals. If you have an athletic big man who can score, give him the rock. That’s right. Give Andrew Bynum the ball, Kobe Bryant be damned!

It’s a Cole World

It didn’t take long for rookie Norris Cole to make his presence felt in the league. It is surprising to see him do it on a championship-caliber team like the Miami Heat though. In only his second regular season game Cole was key to the Heat beating the Boston Celtics by scoring 14 points in the fourth quarter of Miami’s 115-107 win.

Atlanta Hawks’ Reserves Pivotal in 106-70 Win Over Nets

Newark, NJ - After getting out to a huge lead in the first quarter, the Atlanta Hawks got to show off some of their new additions in what ended up being a 36-point blowout of the New Jersey Nets. Starters Jeff Teague and Marvin Williams set the pace early but it was the reserves who continued to pound it on the Nets and stretch the Hawks’ lead.

Fall from Grace for Lakers, Mavs?

Two championship caliber teams have started the season 0-2. While it’s too early to pronounce impending doom for the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks, there may be a lesson to be learned from their combined 0-4 start.

The Miami Heat 2011-2012 Season Preview

Unfinished business. Although not verbally expressed in those specific terms, that is the sentiment that permeates throughout the entire Miami Heat organization. The Heat lived up to their promise to compete for a championship last year making it all the way to the NBA Finals but failed to bring home the hardware. This year they vow to change that.

Post Man Cometh: Is Dwight Howard the Last Dominant Big Man?

I wonder if Dwight Howard feels lonely. With the retirement of Shaquille O’Neal and Yao Ming over the past year it seems like the era of the dominant 20-and-10 big man has come to an end. Once a staple of the NBA, teams are now happy to get a serviceable defender to play the post. For those of us who remember the glory days, it’s frightening to see skinny offensively-challenged centers like Joakim Noah and Tyson Chandler become coveted names in free agency.

The 2011-2012 Atlanta Hawks Season Preview

The Atlanta Hawks are a talented team that practically stumbles into the playoffs every year. It’s pretty easy to do when you consider how weak and devoid of talent the Eastern Conference is but its maddening for Hawks fans who know that they could truly be a dominant force in the league if they ever played up to their talent.

Lessons Learned from the Last Lockout-Shortened NBA Season

The 2011-2012 NBA basketball season is projected to be a very challenging season, more so than your usual season of NBA basketball. Due to the contracted schedule, shortened mini-camps and free agent period, and the weakness of the draft, this season will have a lot in common with the last lockout-shortened season back in 1998-1999.But first let’s take a quick recap of the 98-99 season.

Dallas Mavericks Quietly Reloading for Repeat Run

You may have heard about the Dallas Mavericks’ acquisition of disgruntled forward Lamar Odom from the Los Angeles Lakers but most of the news coming out of Dallas is about players who are leaving the 2011 NBA Champion Mavs for greener pastures.
